Description

Ben Wynter is a trailblazing figure in the intersection of music, media, and investment, renowned for his pioneering work in breaking down barriers to financial resources for creative entrepreneurs. With over two decades of experience across major and independent record labels, Wynter’s expertise extends beyond the traditional confines of the music industry into the world of capital investment and grant funding.

Ben offers services in management, production, cultural marketing, and podcasting. His client roster has included Grammy Award in the U.S., and BUMA Award winning songwriters in the Netherlands, among many other global talents. Through this work, Wynter has become a trusted advisor to top-tier talent, combining his industry acumen with a deep understanding of the financial mechanisms that drive creative success.

As the Director of Business Development and Partnerships at the Association of Independent Music (AIM), Wynter has been instrumental in guiding independent music entrepreneurs and rights holders, helping them navigate the complex music and media landscape to maximise the value of their assets. Wynter’s influence extends into the investment landscape, where he has pioneered innovative financial solutions that give music entrepreneurs access to capital. Wynter created the AIM Angel Investment Syndicate, a groundbreaking initiative designed to help independent music entrepreneurs secure capital and develop the skills needed to navigate the investment world. This initiative has opened new pathways for creatives to scale their businesses and thrive in an industry that often limits access to financial networks. His regional strategy has helped AIM establish outposts throughout the UK, ensuring that independent music businesses outside London also have access to resources and networks. Whilst his strategic partnerships with companies such as EY, Reed Smith and Coutts to name a few has brought big business to the independent sector in the U.K.

His time at the PRS Foundation saw the conceptualisation and launch of several critical funding programs, including the Hitmaker Fund, which provides essential financial support to behind-the-scenes songwriters and producers, and the Future Hitmaker Grant, aimed specifically at female and gender diverse songwriters. These initiatives are emblematic of Wynter’s commitment to ensuring that the financial tools necessary for success are available to all, regardless of background.

Wynter is also the co-founder of the POWER UP! initiative, a multi-award-winning program dedicated to tackling anti-Black racism within the UK music industry. Through POWER UP!, Wynter continues to champion greater equity and inclusivity across the sector.

Additionally, his influence also extends to governmental advocacy, where he plays a key role in shaping policy, serving on the UK government’s IPO roundtable for streaming reform and contributing to the high-profile DCMS Creator Remuneration Working Group, underscores his commitment to systemic change in the music industry. On a broader scale, Ben has recently taken on the role of Co-Chair of the IMPALA EDI Task Force, where he is driving efforts to improve inclusion across the independent music sector on a Europe-wide level whilst contributing to the wider independent music policy through his attendance of IMPALA board meetings.

Wynter was recently invited to join the Mayor of Rotterdam’s International Cultural Advisory Board, extending his influence, insight, and expertise beyond the UK and into key cultural landscapes across Europe.

Ben Wynter’s career is a testament to his ability to blend creative talent development with financial empowerment, making him a transformative force in both the music and investment landscapes.
