Future Screens NI is the creative industry cluster for Northern Ireland funded by the Department for Communities NI. Responding to industry needs, Future Screens NI delivers expert technical skills, opportunity and growth across film and broadcast, animation, games and immersive technologies and industries in Northern Ireland. Through the funding partnership with the Department for Communities, Future Screens NI encourages creative companies to develop strategies to grow productivity and maximise their global potential, delivering new jobs to advance the local economy and building capacity in local communities through social-facing research and development.
Future Screens NI also develops industry training programmes which not only facilitate the growth of local companies but offer opportunities for those living in deprived or peripheral areas to access training in key softwares, such as Epic’s Unreal Engine, which can allow them to enter employment without having to negotiate traditional educational routes.
Future Screens NI is a key partner in the Studio Ulster virtual production studio in Belfast and the Arts & Humanities Research Council’s Co-Star ScreenLab also housed in Studio Ulster.
The Partnership has developed a definition of, and a working model for, the creative industries in NI which is focused on participation, cultural and economic growth, and social and economic regeneration placing the Partnership as a leading developmental catalyst in this NI sector.
