Description
Dafydd Hall Williams is a Welsh stage director and cultural entrepreneur known for integrating immersive technology with the performing arts. He is the founder and CEO of HoloEdge Digital, a Belfast-based company pioneering the fusion of augmented reality and volumetric capture in cultural storytelling. Among his notable projects is the Yardmen Trail AR Stories app, which brings historical narratives to life, and the world’s first volumetrically captured opera app, redefining digital performance experiences.
In addition to his work with HoloEdge Digital, Dafydd serves as the Artistic Director of Ulster Touring Opera (UTO), a cross-border producing company. His directorial credits include productions for Wexford Festival Opera, the Royal College of Music, and the Shanghai Opera House. His innovative approach to opera staging has been recognised for its creativity and accessibility.
Dafydd's academic background includes training at the Oxford School of Drama and earning both a BA and MA from Aberystwyth University. His MA was conducted in partnership with Music Theatre Wales, where he contributed to the UK premiere of Philip Glass’s In The Penal Colony at the Royal Opera House’s Linbury Theatre.
In April 2025, Dafydd made his Chinese debut with a production of Donizetti's L'elisir d'amore at the Shanghai Opera House, marking a significant milestone in his international career.
