Description
Will is a technologist working at the intersection of AI, climate, and policy. He co-founded the Enabled Emissions Campaign, whose mission is to align advanced technology with climate science.
At Microsoft, Will led the development of Responsible AI platform features, co-founded Green Software Engineering initiatives (including the open-source Carbon Aware SDK), and co-authored the Accelerating Sustainability with AI playbook. His leadership helped Microsoft expand beyond narrow operational goals, aligning software operations with broader sustainability efforts. Will also held the company accountable for its role in enabling fossil fuel expansion, mobilizing peers and spearheading forums, presentations, and memos. This advocacy led to Microsoft’s publication of its first Energy Principles, establishing guidelines for engaging with the fossil fuel industry.
Will holds an M.S. in Technology Innovation from the University of Washington and a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from Virginia Commonwealth University. He also holds four patents from his time at SolarCity/Tesla Energy. Outside of work, Will draws inspiration from nature, exploring the rugged landscapes of the Pacific Northwest as a plant-based adventure athlete.
