Sir Sadiq Khan is the Mayor of London. Born and raised in Tooting, he began his career as a human rights lawyer before entering Parliament in 2005. A former Cabinet Minister, he was elected Mayor in 2016, re-elected in 2021, and again in 2024—making history as the first incumbent to increase both their margin of victory and receive a swing in their favour. His landslide third-term win was widely seen as an endorsement of his ambitious, world-leading climate policies. Sadiq continues to hold the largest personal mandate of any elected politician in the UK, and one of the biggest in Europe. He lives in Tooting with his wife and two children, and proudly calls it the best bit of the best city in the world.
